I thought the plot was an excellent idea and it was well written. I don't think it was as bad as some have believed. It goes along with once you have a bad experience in life, you lack faith and understanding in people. It is hard to earn trust when once it is broken. Also fear of rejection leads to many other insecurities and this happened to Elizabeth as well as Darcy in this instance.Darcy was used to being in control of everything and everyone around him and I could see why he was controlling of Elizabeth for fear of loss and love and only wanted what was best for her.
Then Elizabeth had lost so much faith in herself as being betrayed by her mother, Mrs. Walker's relatives, and therefore doubted herself on many occasions as to the decisions she was making in her life. It is hard to regain self worth once it is lost. It took many years and Darcy's love to convince her of her worth and love for each other.
I appreciated reading it from a different perspective.

I enjoyed the writing style overall, but was a bit displeased by wrong words sometimes. I found Elizabeth's arrogance hard to comprehend, based her five years working as a companion. Why would she have considered rejecting Darcy a second time, considering what her life options were.
I found that the story line worked well with the original pride and prejudice . the scenarios very believable with the time frame

There was opportunity for much more to happen, personal decisions could have been better explained.
At first, I really enjoyed something new. It started out so well, but towards the end it felt like she ran out ideas. And then it ended abruptly. Also some annoying spelling and pronoun errors. Proof reading? I have seen worse errors however. Overall a good read.
Okay, this was a retelling but neither Lizzie or Darcy seemed like the characters in P&P. Lizzie suffered the loss of her father, the vindictiveness of her mother, had to support herself, was attacked and then accused of theft. All of that would change anyone but this new version of her just didn't ring true with me. Darcy was still a good man but I just couldn't see this Darcy as being quite as wonderful.
This book began well with an interesting plot but then it devolved into Elizabeth constantly confused about her feelings yet allowing intimacies and Darcy being high handed yet incredibly understanding. The language was frequently modern with cliches throughout. The end also felt rushed, one moment there was an incredible conflict and the next there was an epilogue. I liked the length of the story and the plot but I just couldn't love it.
I liked that it had a heart breaking beginning and that Elizabeth was on the run from something. There was a lot of conflict that I saw a lot of different ways that it could have been resolved but other than that it was a nice book. The ending I kind a wish I was better because I was kind of hoping that the Old girlfriend part of the story could have been bigger and more evil in my opinion. I kind of wish that the Epilogue would've elaborated on how Darcy got his revenge on the walkers by buying them out. Four instance why did Darcy have to buy out the walkers that was not entirely clear for me. Yes it had to do with Elizabeth and a grandson who was married and Mr. Walker wanting more money but at the same time that doesn't explain why Darcy bought out the walkers instead of letting them and in Bankruptcy.
